LAURA ACKERMANN
(
Bird Woman
) is
extremely pleased to be returning to The Muny
for her 16th season.
Mary
Poppins
is show number 35
for her. She’s gone full circle,
from the Lullaby League
in 1975 to Auntie Em in
the 2001 production of
The
Wizard of Oz,
when a real
tornado made an appearance
on opening night. You may
also recognize her as Mrs.
Pearce in
My Fair Lady
, Frau Schmidt in
The
Sound of Music,
Eleonor Widener in
Titanic,
or
Alma Hicks in
The Music Man
. One of her very
favorite shows was the 1999 production of
Annie
,
when her talented daughter Allison Wehrsten,
made her Muny debut. Laura was a member
of the St. Louis Cast of
Menopause the Musical
(Earth Mother), and has played such roles at
Nettie in Avalon Theatre’s production of
The
Subject Was Roses,
and Mama in The New Jewish
Theater’s
Last of the Red Hot Mamas
. For Stages St.
Louis, she has appeared as Miss Adelaide in
Guys
and Dolls
and Fraulein Kost in
Cabaret
, as well
as a dozen other productions. Most recently, she
wrote, directed and choreographed

the choreographer for Nipher Middle School in
Kirkwood and is extremely proud of this year’s
production of
Guys and Dolls
. She would like to
thank her wonderful family, especially Dad, Al
Ackermann, who always encouraged her to go
after her dreams. Her sisters, the Everetts and the
Hagemans, her daughter Allie, grandson Braeden
(Grammy loves you) and soon to be son-in-law
Anthony. She’s grateful for her dear friends, some
of whom are in this show, and the Innsbrook 8/9,
the best companions a girl could have. Laura
